Ted McLyman has over 25 years experience as a leader, educator, financial advisor, business owner, and triathlon competitor. He is the author of the bestselling book Money Makes Me Crazy, and the creator of the industry-renowned Quick Scan System of behavioral finance resources — a suite of tools that helps financial professionals and their clients make better decisions in planning for their financial future. This system includes the highly-regarded Money Temperament™ assessments which uncover how clients’ predispositions influence money decision making.
As a retired Marine Corps Lieutenant Colonel, entrepreneur, and CEO of the Apexx Group Ted brings a wealth of experience to Dream Smart Academy. During his career in the Corps, he served as an artillery and a financial management officer, as an economics instructor at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, an Aide to the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Financial Management, Head of Marine Corps Training Management. He also founded and commanded the Marine Corps™ first financial management school. After his participation during Operation Desert Storm, he authored the definitive study on training readiness.
Ted earned his Bachelor of Arts in Social Relations from Colgate University and went on to attain his Master of Science from Boise State in Instructional and Performance Technology and his Master of Arts from Pepperdine University in management.
